Two contested judges races in the Ninth Judicial District
Four candidates are vying for election or re-election Nov. 3 to two positions as judges in the Ninth Judicial District Court.
There are 24 judges in Minnesota's ninth district. This includes 17 counties and three tribal nations. Of the 24 seats, twelve are up for reelection in 2020, and two of those seats are contested.
Incumbent Judge Jana Austad will face challenger James Hughes, and Incumbent Judge Charles Halverson will square off against challenger Ben Lindstrom.
Each of the candidates answered a handful of questions from the Bemijdi Pioneer about their judicial background and goals if elected.
