Meet Judge Charles Halverson
Judge Halverson has 30+ years of experience being in and around courtrooms throughout Minnesota. He understands that walking into a courtroom can be unnerving for anyone, including defendants, victims, witnesses, and jurors. As a result, Judge Halverson treats people with dignity and respect through his patient and caring approach.
He has earned the distinction of criminal law specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association. Less than 60 lawyers have earned that distinction of the 16,000+ lawyers practicing in Minnesota. Becoming a criminal law specialist requires extensive trial experience. In addition to his considerable training as a family law mediator, he has extensive trial experience in family and child protection cases, as well as a variety of civil cases.
Judge Halverson has a long history of supporting the recovery community, especially treatment courts. He is particularly known for helping people in need address their chemical dependency issues or behavioral issues and advocates for the positive effects of treatment.
Judge Charles Halverson has lived in the Ninth District for 35 years. He and his wife, Julie, each have two children and one grandchild. Outside the courtroom, he enjoys travel, plays hockey and golf, and relaxes by riding motorcycle and hiking.
